Jason Chua Yap is a seasoned mechanical engineer and technology leader with over 15 years of experience driving innovation in robotics, automation, and mechatronics. With a strong foundation in mechanical engineering from Florida State University (M.S. and B.S.), Jason has led multidisciplinary teams and spearheaded the development of cutting-edge robotic systems across startups and established tech companies.
Currently serving as Director of Hardware Engineering at Joint Space Automation Laboratories, Jason advises clients on robotic picking technologies, optimizing system configurations, and ensuring ROI-driven automation solutions. His previous roles include Hardware Engineering Manager at Pickle Robot Company and Principal Mechatronics Engineer at Berkshire Grey, where he led the design and deployment of high-speed robotic systems for e-commerce and logistics.
Jason is a named inventor on multiple patents in robotic gripping and automation systems, reflecting his deep expertise in mechanism design, system integration, and product development from concept to production. His work spans AGV systems, vacuum manipulation, safety systems, and high-volume manufacturing, with a consistent focus on practical innovation and robust engineering.
